According to the “Теплоэнергетика” March 2012 issue, experts from the Russian Central Boiler and Turbine Research Institute listed the cause of the destruction of the П-90 heat recovery boiler and its evaporation tube bend at ПГУ-450Т, Unit 1, Northwest Thermal Power Station. The technical solution that allows the use of ГТЭ-160 instead of the V-94.2 gas turbine was analyzed. The installation of a new ГТЭ-160 gas turbine and utilization of the existing П-90 waste heat boiler resulted in a reduction of 4.5 to 12.5 MW of turbine power in condensing conditions.
