2008年9月30日,温州考察团结束访问回国前夕,原温州市委常委、鹿城区委书记杨湘洪突然声称“腰突”病复发,需在巴黎住院治疗,此后一直未归。同年11月7日,杨湘洪被浙江省委常委会开除公职及党籍。杨湘洪“失踪”一事,其实是早有预谋的。杨湘洪的妻子游捷曾经“掩护”丈夫和女儿出逃,自己却被捕。而直到这时,她才知道,自己无法出逃,竟然是丈夫杨湘洪一手策划的。
