The authors conducted a prospective study of surfactant abnormalities in patients with severe post-traumatic pulmonary dysfunction. Seventeen adult patients with multiple trauma and acute respiratory distress syndrome (CARDS) were included in the study. The severity of trauma was above 40 points on the Baker trauma severity score. After the trauma
