在海洋钻井的钻台上,由于受到空间的限制,过去都不采用皮带来驱动泥浆泵。因为假使采用普通的三角皮带,驱动一台1600马力的泥浆泵就要配备22根皮带和宽度达32吋(813毫米)的皮带轮。
