Luteinizing hormone releasing hormone (LH-RH) and its highly active analogs have been shown to have anti-fertility effects in a variety of animals, but their mechanism of action is not clear. Some authors suggest that the anti-fertility effect of LH-RH may be due in part to its pituitary role, which is the result of direct action on the uterus. However, the effect of LH-RH on uterine weight gain can not be ruled out as a result of changes in ovarian steroidogenesis due to the absence of ovariectomy.
