高校图书馆是学校的图书资料情报中心,是为教学和科研服务的,成为教学和科研工作的重要组成部分。它的读者对象主要是教师和学生。因此图书馆的一切工作都要紧紧围绕读者展开,服务于读者。衡量一个馆的工作,首先要看它的读者服务工作,可以说读者服务工作是图书馆全部工作的出发点和归宿。全心全意为师生服务,为每个读者提供所需要的书籍,最大限度地满足读者要求,是每个图书馆工作人员义不容辞的责任。充分利用图书才能实现其自身的社会价值。这也就是“读者第一、服务至上”的真谛。
