According to the annual membership data of the British Booksellers Association, the total number of independent bookstores in major blocks in the past six years has continued to decrease, but the children’s bookstores seem to have developed into a “golden age.” Booksellers Association reported that 73 bookstores closed last year, 39 opened, but closed the bookstore there is no children’s bookstore. In 2012, the number of independent bookstores was reduced to 1,028, with 1,535 independent bookstores in 2005. Tim Godfray, chief executive of bookseller associations, said bookseller associations will help booksellers and publishers collaborate to explore new business models and ensure that bookshops continue to operate in major blocks.
