In Ireland’s day in 1986, 18 Irish Football Association members gathered to elect the new national football coach. There are four candidates, of which experienced and highly respected Bobby Peirce, the famous coach, has the highest voice, but his seniority also affected his election. Charlton also joined the competition as a foreign coach. In the first round of voting, Pacy won nine votes, only half, while Charlton had only three votes. As soon as the results came out, the other two candidates automatically gave up their vote for the next round of voting. Charlton hopes two abstaining supporters will back him in the next ballot.
