对古生物珊瑚化石,国内外大多作为地球岩层地质年代史划分的标准化石来寻找研究它。明清以来玉雕家作玉料刻成石龟、酒樽、香炉等工艺品或上献朝廷,或在市场上出售。而观赏玩石家则从单体或复体珊瑚完整的大小形体,自身的形态变化多样的视野来收藏、欣赏它。在地球漫长的历史中,各地质时代均不同程度地有海洋分布着,其中生活过大量的珊瑚。后来,随着地质运动的“沧海变桑田”影响,经过成岩作用使有些珊瑚变成了古生物化石。笔者在甘洛河滩中寻找珊瑚类观赏
