Building Broadcasting Building to Support the Establishment of Television On October 1, 1949, the People’s Republic of China was established. Beijing Xinhua Broadcasting Station broadcast the live broadcast of the founding ceremony in the tower of Tiananmen Square. On December 5 of the same year, Beijing Xinhua Station was renamed as the Central People’s Broadcasting Station. At that time, the Central Broadcasting Administration and CCTV still operated the former site of the former KMT Beiping Radio Station on the 3rd of Chang’an Avenue in the west.
