目前,市政工程施工专业已被市教委批准为首批50个重点建设专业之一,上海市城市建设工程学校已有近50年的历史。现已被评为国家级重点学校。“市政工程施工”专业是学校的重点专业。历年来,为全国各地输送了大批市政建设人才。在历届的毕业生中,涌现了一些业界的专家和领导。从上海的城市发展看来,除了新建改建一批城市道路、公路项目外,对全市所有道路、桥梁进行及时的养护和维修也是刻不容缓的。所以市政工程行业发展潜力是巨大的,需要大量的既懂专业,又懂施工的技术工人,需要具有市政工程施工综合职业能力,具有创新精神和创新能力的高素质劳动者和中等专门人才。
