Roger Gilman and Andrew Sullivan (along with Rosalyn Yale) shared the 1977 Nobel Prize in Medicine for their study of peptide hormones in the brain. This is the culmination of 21 years of intense and sometimes very intense competition from the two research groups led by them. In the course of 21 years, both of them persevered in the research process and filled with vicious confrontations, exposing the personal intrigues of scientific research in the capitalist world.
