In February 1865, a peculiar auction took place in Cleveland, Ohio, United States: Both partners wanted to own a single refinery owned by them. They were bidding in the office, and later, John Rockefeller auctioned the refinery for $ 72,500. More than 130 years later, Rockefeller’s descendants and followers became the overlord of the global oil industry. Its controlling Exxon Petroleum Group seized the top spot for world oil with a turnover of 140 billion U.S. dollars. This story really has its legendary color.
