《剧本》月刊从1952年3月创刊到现在,已经整整四十年了。作为在这块园地上工作过四十年的编辑人员,回顾过去,展望未来,感触颇多。三十而立,四十而不惑,《剧本》月刊也到了不惑之年。从创刊到现在,这个刊物有一贯的编辑方针,这就是繁荣戏剧创作,活跃戏剧评论,提供上演剧目,培养青年剧作者,扶植优秀剧本。四十年来,《剧本》月刊的主编已经换了七个人,张光年、贺敬之、凤子、于雁军、张颖、魏敏和我,但不管哪一位主编主持工作,都把繁荣戏剧创作、培养青年剧作者作为主要任务。记得创办这个刊物的时候,周扬同志曾经说过,要繁荣戏剧创作,除了发动剧作家写剧本外,还要调十几位同志读剧作家写出来的剧本,帮助他们修改提高,然后发表出来,给剧团提供上演剧目。《剧本》月刊就是在周扬同志这一想法的指导下创刊的。当时中央文化部艺术事业管理局刚刚成立,田汉同志任局长,张光年同志任副局长,他从中央戏剧学院调来八位同志,李超同志任戏剧处长,司空谷、李钦和我三个人组成一个编辑部。最初编辑《人民戏剧》,发表过老舍同志的话剧
