Ferroptosis is an iron-dependent form of cell death character-ized by an accumulation of lipid peroxides.A growing body of recent evidence supports the notion that ferroptosis plays an important role in mediating a wide variety of cellular processes in diseases.Notably,ferroptosis can play a significant role in medi-ating various functions in immune cells and immunotherapies.Here,we discuss our current understanding regarding the regula-tory role of ferroptosis in immune cells,including T cells,B cells,granulocytes,monocytes,and macrophages.In addition,we dis-cuss the general effect of immune cell ferroptosis on human patho-physiology and immunotherapies,thereby suggesting new strategies for targeting ferroptosis in order to modulate the immune system and unravel the mechanisms that underlie ferrop-tosis in the immune response.
