一、前言当荷重作用在渗水情况良好的砂土层上,全部作用均由固体土粒承担,而对於土壤孔隙中的水份,除了其本身的静水压力外,没有受到任何外力的影响。但当荷重作用在不易渗水的饱和粘土层上时,由於粘土不易排水,一旦荷重初加上时,则在土层深度Z处,由荷重而增加的压应力△P,全部为土壤孔隙水所负担,随着时间的增加,压力才逐渐由水传递至土粒上,土层的压缩亦逐渐增加,水所负担的压应力,即为孔隙水压力或称超静水压力,这种应力,既不能减少土壤的压缩性,又不能增加土壤的抗剪强度,因此也叫中和应力。
