本刊第10期发表了福州刘留缓的“Lewinsky的背景和个性”一文之后,读者反响非常强烈,我们收到了许多来稿,意欲解答刘小姐在文章中提出的三句难句。其中有相当一部分的来稿对难句的理解存在偏差。比如:...andperhaps being overweigh,she’d overcompensate to please.一句中的形容词overweight以及动词overcompensate的理解可谓五花八门。苏州的吕天平同志的来槁分析比较全面,译文也比较贴近原文。
