艾菊在传统中国人的生活中是一种有特殊意义的植物。人们用它治病、熏衣、驱虫,端午节时还常将艾菊和菖蒲插于家门口,以避邪防病。艾菊(Artemisia argyi)也称艾蒿、艾草,菊科多年生草本,在我国各地均有分布。一般生长于荒地、林缘等地,喜阳光、湿润,耐早、耐阴、耐贫瘠,菜园旁、溪沟边、田埂或道路旁常有它的踪迹。它是一种广谱抗菌、抗病毒的传统中草药,主治妇科病、关节痛、神经痛、头风头痛等症。
