森谷司郎是当今日本影坛上一位有成就的中年导演。他涉足银海二十多年,导演了一批高质量的影片,得到电影观众的好评;也颇受电影界同行的尊敬。去年九月在日本电影周期间放映的影片《海峡》就是他八二年的新作。森谷司郎一九三一年九月二十八日生于东京的四谷。当时由于父亲在保险公司工作的缘故,在中日战争爆发的一九三七年夏天便随同父母亲及两个哥哥迁往台湾的嘉义,并在当地上了小学。六年级时又转迁到台南,在那里念完小学升入初中。初中二年级时,迎来了战争的结束。死里逃生的一家人在财产被全部没收的情况下,终于在一九四六年三月回到了鹿儿岛。归国后,一家人连个安身之处也没有,于是又来到了父亲的老家冈山县的金光。森谷司郎即进入冈山一中,
