探矿工程作为地质勘探工作中一种重要技术方法，近年来在开拓改革中取得了重大进展，为地质找矿和国民经济建设作出了巨大贡献。一年来，钻探工程预算内工作量减少到只有209万米，在十分困难的情况下，广大探矿职工自立自强，顽强开拓，预算外工作量大幅度地上升为122万米，使钻探总工作量仍保持在331万米水平上。坑探预算内工作量完成9.4万米（其中机掘4.1万米），同时，大力开拓市场，总承包工作量也近一万余米。地矿部各项经济技术指标完成预定目标、指标情况见表。
