The small waves in the stream are like a small splash splashing in the stream, and almost no attention has been drawn when Marxism began to enter China. In February 1899, the 121st issue of the “Universal Magazine”, a monthly magazine sponsored by the Society, was translated by Timothy Timothy, a British missionary. The first chapter of “The Great Learning Class” written by Terry Chou mentioned Marx’s name for the first time: “The famous leader of the hundred workers, British Marx also.” The text mistakenly Marx as Englishman. Marx’s name appeared in Chapter Three of the “Great Learners” contained in the 123rd issue of the “Universal Magazine” published in April of the same year. In this article, Marx was translated into Ma Ke-csi, which is the earliest appearance of Marx’s name and Marxism in Chinese newspapers and periodicals .
