有清末季,在我国私人藏书四大家之中,以瞿、杨两家藏书较为精善丰富,故前人常以“南瞿北杨”并称。两家所藏虽皆为江南遗籍,但购书杨氏远及四方,瞿氏则囿于乡邦;藏书瞿氏讲究“精”,而杨氏则讲究“博”;两家书目又各呈特色,互有短长;于书之利用瞿氏重在“活”,杨氏则失之“守”。“南翟北杨”作为我国南北藏书文化的代表,固然有不少差异,但又可“互补”,他们共同为保留传播丰富我国传统文化做出了贡献。
With the end of the Qing dynasty, among the four private book collectors in our country, Qu and Yang are more elaborate and rich in books. Therefore, the predecessors often referred to “Nan Qu Beiyang.” Although the two possession are all Jiangnan dynasties, the books are sold far away from the Quartet and Qu’s are from the township. Qu’s books focus on “fineness” while Young’s focus on “Bo”; Features, each with short length; in the use of the book Qu re-emphasis on “living”, Young’s lost “keep.” Although there are quite a few differences between the two groups, they can be “complementary” and they all contribute to the preservation of the traditional culture of our country.
