The imminent 1999 is an extraordinary year. Under the State Council’s institutional reform program, the nuclear industry management system underwent major reforms. On July 1, on the basis of the former China National Nuclear Corporation, the formation of China National Nuclear Corporation and China National Nuclear Construction Corporation marked the beginning of a new phase in the reform and development of the nuclear industry. In the past year, the construction of nuclear power and major nuclear projects are progressing smoothly; the target of uranium geological prospecting, mining and metallurgy, nuclear fuel, nuclear power and civilian products can achieve the planned targets; national defense research, national key project research, nuclear energy development, 863 plan and so on
