2003年,新闻出版总署报纸期刊出版管理司和中国出版杂志社共同出版了《中国报纸名录》和《中国期刊名录》,这是建国以来我国报刊业第一套最权威、最翔实、最准确的工具书。今年1月,经总署报纸期刊出版管理司的批准,2005年版《名录》在2003年版的基础上进行了全面更新,特另4是在名录的编辑过程中,采用与各报刊社一对一地联系采集数据的方式,确保了数据的准确完整。最后经总署报纸期刊出版管理司审核定稿。新闻出版总署领导亲自为此书作序。
