1985年4月,由中国社会科学院世界经济与政治研究所和新加坡东南亚研究所牵头,中国和东盟国家有关研究机构负责人在新加坡聚会,共同商定一项分三个阶段进行的“中国与东盟国家经济关系”联合研究计划.这是双方学者就有关中国与东盟国家关系进行联合研究的首次尝试.事实证明,这种尝试不但促进了双方学者就一定课题共同切磋,加强理解,而且有助于双方经贸关系的开展.这种关系的发展与加强,无疑具有积极的意义.1988年由联合项目中方协调人程毕凡教授和对方协调人谢陈秀瑜教授共同编辑,在北京和新加坡分别出版的《中国与东盟国家经济关系——现状和发展趋势》中、英文本论文集,作为该项目第一阶
