历经七年的卧薪尝胆,伊朗自行研制的新型主战坦克,在纪念两伊战争爆发23周年(2003年9月23日)的阅兵式上首次露出“庐山真面目”。除了6对中直径负重轮的排列间距能让军事发烧友猜出它与“巴顿”主战坦克有些许渊源外,其全新设计的车首装甲、金属侧裙板以及棱角分明的焊接炮塔等等,赋予了它与世界各国任何一款主战坦克都不尽相同的外观。这种新型坦克被命名为“佐勒菲卡尔”(Zulqfar),Zulqfar是伊朗民族英雄阿里手中的一把锋利战刀。
