2013年12月4日,工信部正式发放TD-LTE牌照,我国电信产业正式进入4G时代;2013年年底,中国移动西安分公司(以下简称西安移动)已开通2200个4G基站,主城区实现了4G网络良好覆盖;2014年1月1日,西安移动在西安地区乃至整个西北地区率先实现4G商用。虽然并不在中国移动首批4G试商用区域之列,但西安移动在4G网络覆盖、工程建设、终端信号测试等方面并不落后,甚至还领先于某些更早启动4G建设的城市。
