The French writer and critic Maurice Brown’s literary thinking mainly revolved around the issue of “the possibility of literature.” This essay mainly discusses Brownies’ unique concept about “the inspiration of literature” through the analysis of relevant explanations in such texts as “Literary Space”. Inspiration problems have been neglected in previous studies, but it is crucial for understanding and evaluating Brown’s literature. This dissertation points out that the discussion about Blanchett’s concept of inspiration actually presents the core issue of contemporary literary theory well by analyzing the key words such as inspiration, origin, subject, externality, boundaries and transgressions related to this issue, Absent in the text. More critically, Brownsau’s complexity of literary inspiration is that he differs from both ancient Greece and romanticism in that he reminds us of the ego and the other, the inside and the outside, in the pursuit of inspirational writing Active and passive duality.
