“V on / in L ” and “VL ” are two of the more common structures in Chinese. The article holds that from the perspective of Chinese history, the two structures not only coexist within a certain historical period, but also show some relevance. On the one hand, some verbs may appear in both “V in / L” and “VL” in a certain historical period. Although the two structures exist frequently in different periods and in different literatures On the other hand, the two structures have undergone a structural change from “V” to “VL” in Chinese history and then to “V” On / in the L "structure of the dominant alternative development process. This change is mainly related to the rise of Chinese locative words and the development of Chinese grammar.
