油杉,别名松梧、海罗松。松科、油杉属。产于福建、浙江、广东、广西海拔千米以下的山地,常散生在常绿阔叶林中组成小片纯林。是东南沿海各省区酸性土荒山造林树种。油杉系乔木,高可达30米,胸径1米,树皮暗灰色,纵裂,枝开展,树冠塔形。叶上面光绿色,下面淡绿色,条形,二列,长1.2～2.5厘米,宽2～3毫米,先端有渐尖的刺尖头。花期3～4月,球果10月成熟,果实圆柱形。油杉喜向阳温暖气候和肥沃的微酸性黄壤土,但在贫山瘠地也能生长;萌芽力强,耐寒,耐旱,耐贫瘠,耐修剪;抗病能力强,少有病虫害;叶小而绿,树干黄褐色,表皮龟裂,呈鱼鳞状,是观叶、观干、观花、观果的好树种,也是制作盆景的好材料。
