宋耀如(1861—1918),近代实业家,为辛亥革命作出重大贡献的先锋战士。原姓韩,名教准,后因过继给宋姓舅父而改姓宋,更名嘉树,字耀如,海南文昌昌洒镇古路园村人。12岁时随舅父前往美国谋生,1881年4月入三一学院当预科生,后入田纳西州凡德比大学神学院就读。1885年春毕业,被授以圣职并回中国传教。1886年转往上海教区,兼授英文。1892年,宋耀如辞去教会职务,进入实业界,先后创设华美书馆、投资面粉厂、兴办香烟厂和棉纺工厂等,因经营有方,生意日盛,成为当时上海滩有名的实业家。
Song Yaoru (1861-1918), a modern industrialist who made a significant contribution to the revolution of 1911, is a pioneer warrior.
