Complications of thalassemia mainly include iron overload, pericarditis, increased chance of streptococcal infection, decreased IgM after splenectomy, and autoimmune hemolysis. Complications of spinal cord compression are rare, and since Gatto et al first reported 1 in 1954, there were 11 documented cases. The authors report 12 cases of β ° thalassemia (HbE) complicated by spinal cord compression, its clinical and treatment analysis, combined with the literature to be discussed. 12 cases, 10 males and 2 females.
