Eighteen hydroelectric power stations will be equipped with stationary exciter. This paper describes the special requirements of the power plant and associated grid for such exciter equipment. As Brazil and Paraguay grid frequencies were 60 Hertz and 50 Hertz, respectively, according to Ettap Hydropower Station 18 700,000 kilowatts generator, Jiutai will operate at one frequency, the remaining nine aircraft will be another frequency run. Although all units will be fitted with the same static excitation system, the ratings will be slightly different due to the different unit characteristics. In October 1978, the joint development between the two countries, Itaipu Engineering (IB), signed a delivery contract with Itaipa United Electrical and Mechanical Services Company. The latter provides generators with magnetic assist devices, integrated voltage control systems, protection and control equipment, generator feeders, plant overhauls and turbines (including control and monitoring systems).
