一九九二年十二月二十五日,市政府办公厅受巢振威副市长的委托,在中国大酒店主持召开关于建设广州国际博览中心项目专题研讨会。参加会议的有市政府副秘书长吴秉辉和省、市有关部门、专家学者和香港贸易发展局等单位的负责人。会议认为我市要进一步扩大开放,加快第三产业的发展,并逐步发展成为国际化大都市,使之成为世界商业贸易信息中心之一。要实现这一目标,需要建设一个大规模的、能够承办一系列国际大规模展览和商贸活动的博览中心,当前要抓住有利时机,加快博览中心项目的建设。
On December 25, 1992, the municipal government office was entrusted by Vice Mayor Chao Zhenwei to hold a seminar on the construction of Guangzhou International Exposition Center at China World Hotel. Attending the meeting were Wu Binghui, deputy secretary-general of the municipal government, and heads of relevant departments of provinces and municipalities, experts and scholars and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. The meeting held that the city should further expand its opening up and speed up the development of the tertiary industry and gradually develop itself into an international metropolis making it one of the world's business and trade information centers. To achieve this goal, we need to build a large-scale Expo Center capable of hosting a series of international large-scale exhibitions and business activities. At present, we should seize the favorable opportunity and speed up the construction of the Expo Center project.
