Of the contemporary American poets, Gary Snyder once fascinated me. He was a very interesting figure who studied various professions after graduating from university and later became interested in Zen Buddhism. He then headed to Japan and studied at a monastery. In the 1960s, he participated in the Beat Movement, but did not agree to divide himself into this poetic genre. His poetic style is also not very different from that of the Beatles. The former is full of noises and rebellious sentiments. However, Snyder writes calm and rustic. Of course, behind these are the meanings of Zen and Chinese poetry (of course Classical poetry) on him.
