接触梅启林,是他来到协会以后,若非在开会的间隙,就是在办班的过程中。由于他为人低调,开始对他的印象,仅限为人与工作,只觉得他踏实诚恳,尽职尽责。直到前几年,才在一个联展中看到他的作品,发现了那种与众不同的绘画旨趣,这就是苏东坡说的“寄至味于淡泊”。前几个月,又有机会看到他一批同样追求的近作,于是不免略述所感。时下画展中的作品,大幅多而小品少,躁动的多而宁静的少,浓墨重彩刺激眼球的多,而清淡幽雅余味无穷的少。然而,梅启林的作品,是清一色的淡墨山水,或者淡墨微色,又差不多都是斗方。画的是乡间寻常景色,朴素而亲切,平淡而有味,不乏“天工与清新”之美,仿佛眷恋田园的游子,娓娓叙说着内心的精神家园。品赏他近年的作品,有三点值得重视。
