Objective To investigate the clinical and epidemiological significance of abnormal blood cell and lipid parameters in patients with imported malaria. Methods The levels of blood cells and blood lipids in 51 patients with imported malaria were measured, and the levels of blood cells and blood lipids in 50 normal healthy volunteers were also determined. Results There were significant differences in white blood cell count, red blood cell count, hematocrit, hemoglobin concentration, platelet count, platelet pressure, average platelet volume and platelet distribution in 51 patients with imported malaria as compared with the control group P <0.05). Total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein cholesterol, low density lipoprotein cholesterol compared with the control group, the difference was statistically significant (both P <0.05); triglyceride compared with the control group, the difference was not statistically significant (P = 0.634 ). Conclusion The changes of blood cell parameters and blood lipid parameters have some guiding value in the diagnosis and treatment of malaria patients and epidemiological control.
