Driven by the EU’s “Junk Project” and China’s “Belt and Road Initiative,” bilateral investment in both countries, especially in the energy sector, has been growing. However, the risks facing Chinese enterprises can not be ignored. These risks come from both legal and institutional factors at the European level and from political factors at the national level, such as the Brexit. Only by establishing an effective and flexible bilateral consultation mechanism, reaching accreditation of energy industry accreditation by both sides and adopting more strategic alliances and joint ventures and cooperation forms can we try to make our investment activities in Europe avoid the risks brought by the uncertainties.
