Robert J. Shiller, a professor at Yale University in the United States, began researching Chinese consumption in Shanghai in the 1980s. In fact, he started to study Chinese income. Why did he later study Chinese consumption? He said he could not figure it out because of Chinese income. For example, he said, a Chinese told him that the monthly income is 2,000 yuan, but this person buys a piece of clothing worth 1,000 yuan without blinking his eyes. His conclusion is that 2,000 yuan is not the real income of the Chinese people. Since then he will not study the Chinese income, began to study the Chinese consumption. Foreigners not only do not understand the Chinese people’s income, foreigners do not understand the Chinese people’s consumption. Overseas, the Chinese are becoming more and more wealthy, more and more dare to spend the new image, so that businesses are happy, lined up welcome crowd. However, the low index of the total Chinese consumption and the high level of national savings also make them resentful. Chinese in the end money, or no money? In the end dare Chinese people spend, or dare to spend? Foreigners do not understand, do you understand it?
