1在设计中要贯彻平等和明确细分的原则。技术路径应为技术人员提供与管理路径的管理人员平行平等的发展之路和晋升之梯,处在同一层级的人员应享有同样的地位、奖励和报酬。并且技术人员可以在两条路径之间横向移动,但不应鼓励在路径的最高层出现横移。这是正确设计和运作双重职业路径的基础。另外,技术路径的明确和细分是设计双重职业路径的重点和难点,组织必须明确辨识组织所有技术活动,为每一种活动设计对应的职业路径。同时要仔细研究每一种技术活动在不同层级水平上的特征和贡献要求,形成合理、丰富的层级结构,必要时可设计多重路径机制。
