November 16 was informed that the British Marconi Communications and China’s Ministry of Railways Machinery Import and Export Company signed a loan of 26 million U.S. dollars by the British government cooperation in the Ministry of Railways optical communications transmission project contract. Marconi to China Ministry of Railways will provide 26 million US dollars of SDH (synchronous digital transmission) equipment, along China’s more than 6,000 kilometers of 11 railways installed to provide high-capacity, fault-tolerant voice and data communications over optical fiber. The order also includes Marconi’s newest Series 3 SMA transmission multiplexers and its flexible network solution (FNS) access device.
