阳江矮脚香蕉(以下简称“阳江矮”)又称“塘围香蕉”,有200多年栽培历史,主要产地集中在我县塘坪公社塘围、北甘、参垌、珍珠、钓月等大队。 1982年塘坪公社的栽培面积1400多亩,收获面积650亩,总产1.5万担。该品种是一个茎矮粗壮、叶短宽、防风抗倒,稳产优质的香蕉良种。 (一)“阳江矮”的优良特征 1.干矮粗壮。“阳江矮”植株较矮,假干粗。据调查,头造蕉假干高141厘米,二造蕉高173.3厘米。二造蕉才是该品种的高度。高州“齐尾”干高303.7厘米,分别比“阳江矮”头、二造高162.7和130.4厘米(表1)。高州“齐尾”的假干围81.5厘米,比“阳江矮”头、二造蕉的55.16厘米和67.94厘米都粗。若从假干粗与假干高的百分比看,“阳江矮”头、二造分别为38.99％和39.3％比“齐
