沙洋汉江公路大桥于1985年7月1日胜利建成通车了。当天十多万人汇集两岸桥头观看通车典礼,盛况空前。交通部王展意副部长,湖北省人民政府郭振乾副省长,省人大常委会张进先副主任出席了通车典礼,并为大桥通车剪了彩。沙洋汉江公路大桥,是湖北省汉口至宜昌公路在荆门市沙洋镇跨越汉江的一座特大公路桥梁。全长1818.5米,其中主桥长792.7米,上部构造为八跨一联的预应力混凝土连续箱梁,六个中跨跨径为111米,两个边跨跨径为63米。下部构造为钢筋混凝土空心墩,空心沉井基础。两岸引桥共长1025.8米,上部构造为30米预应力混凝土简
Shayang Han River Highway Bridge on July 1, 1985 victory opened to traffic. The same day, more than 100,000 people gathered together to watch the opening ceremony of the cross-Strait bridge.
