北京作为世界著名的文化古都究竟始建于哪一年,过去长期没有确定的意见。1987年,著名教授侯仁之曾致信北京市领导,建议根据京东考古的成果,研究确定北京建城的年代问题。1988年,我任市文物局长期间。北京市有关领导也曾询问此事,并要求市文物局拿出意见。1988年以后,文物局组织专业人员对商周遗址出土器物及考古成果进行整理,并多次组织专家论证,于1990年有了初步结果,并于当年就北京建城的年代作了新闻发布。再后,经中国社会科学院和国家文物局确认,北京建城的年代应始于公元前1045年,至今已有3040年。北京作为居民点的存在,早在有文字记
Beijing as a world-renowned cultural capital was founded in what year, the past long-term no definite opinion. In 1987, Hou Renzhi, a famous professor, once wrote a letter to the leaders of Beijing Municipality and proposed to study and determine the age of Beijing according to the results of Jingdong archeology.
