Yiwu is located in central Zhejiang, a population of 640,000, with a total area of 1102.8 square kilometers. In 1995, the city’s GDP was 9.04 billion yuan, with a fiscal revenue of 250 million yuan and a total export value of 1.13 billion yuan. The per capita net income of farmers was 3,292 yuan, an increase of 7 times, 1.8 times, 9.27 times and 1.91 times respectively over 1990 levels. The trade volume of Yiwu Small Commodity Market has been the top ten in the nation’s top ten markets for five consecutive years since 1991; among the top 100 counties in 1994, China ranked the 47th in the overall economic strength of counties (cities) . With the rapid economic development, urban construction in our city by
