豫西瓜4号是开封市农林科学研究所选育的优质高产耐贮运的杂交新品种.1995年通过河南省农作物品种审定委员会审定命名.特征特性:豫西瓜4号长势健壮,分枝性中等.单性花,第一雌花着生在第5～6节,雌花间隔5～6节,雌花率20%～17%.果实椭圆型,指数1.43.果皮绿色上覆墨绿齿条带,表面光滑,有果粉,厚1.2cm.果肉大红,质脆多汁,风味纯正.单瓜重5～6kg,心糖含量11%,种籽大型,黑色.抗旱耐涝性较强,抗枯萎病、炭疽病,抗逆性强.该品种果皮坚韧,瓤质紧密,不但生长期间不裂果,而且耐贮运性好,完果率高.商品价值高.
