On the eve of the 60th anniversary of the founding of New China and the 60th anniversary of the entry of the People’s Liberation Army into Xinjiang, the author visited General Zhang Mingru, former veteran political commissar of the Xinjiang Military Region. Although the deputy political commissar Zhang Mingru has been 78 years old, but still so tall and burly, back straight, every move is still revealing the dignity of the military. Zhang Mingru was a native of Linxian County in Shanxi Province. He joined the revolution in 1943 and was transferred to the army in 1946.
