The name of the Yalu River comes from Manchu, meaning “the river of borders”. It is a border river between China and North Korea, and Jilin and Liaoning Provinces and North Korea across the river. The Yalu River originates from the south foot of Changbai Mountain. Its source is 2300 meters above sea level. Afterwards, it flows southward to North Korea’s Hui Mountain and then to the northwest to Linjiang River in Jilin Province. It finally infuses the North-South Bay into the Yellow Sea and enters the Yellow Sea. During the Korean War (1950-1953) that broke out in the early days of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Yalu River became a well-known river in the nation. The Chinese People’s Volunteers crossed this border and participated in the first war after the domestic war.
