许多柑桔主产国设立有专业性的柑桔研究机构。其中以美国的“加利福尼亚大学柑桔研究中心和农业试验站”历史最长(1907年成立,当时名称为里佛赛德试验站,1960年改用现名)。这个研究中心有工作人员250名,设九个系,进行植病、昆虫、栽培、品种和砧木、土壤和气侯、生理生化、机械化、推广、统计(农业经济)和加工等方面的研究工作。南非的“柑桔和亚热带果树研究所”也是较老的柑桔研究单位,自1927年就进行柑桔栽培的研究
Many citrus-producing countries have established specialized citrus research institutes. Among them, the United States has the longest history of the “University of California citrus research center and agricultural experiment station” (established in 1907, at that time, it was called the Testspoint Tower and was renamed in 1960). The research center has 250 staff and nine departments for research on plant diseases, insects, cultivation, varieties and rootstocks, soil and climate, physiology and biochemistry, mechanization, extension, statistics (agricultural economics) and processing. The “Citrus and Subtropical Fruit Research Institute” in South Africa is also an older citrus research unit that studied citrus cultivation since 1927
