海洋是现在世界上最大的未知部分,它覆盖着约71％的地球表面,对于这广阔无垠的辽阔水域尚有许许多多亟待发现及待开发之处。在海洋地理学中最有趣的工程之一就是绘制海床图。目前仅有很小的一部分已经绘制出来。对于仅在地球的洋面上航行的船只来说,海床图并不重要,但是对于潜艇里的人来说,它却是生死攸关的东西。
The ocean is now the largest unknown part of the world. It covers about 71% of the Earth’s surface. There are still many places in this vast and vast expanse of water that need to be discovered and to be developed. One of the most interesting projects in marine geography is the drawing of seabed maps. Only a very small part has been drawn up. The seabed map is not important for a boat sailing on the ocean surface only, but for the people in the submarine it is a matter of life and death.
